The Mesoamerican Monitoring and Visualization System (SIAM-SERVIR)
The site is currently under construction and will be fully functioning by July/August 2004. A pre-release is however already available to meet the demand for satellite imagery for fire monitoring during the dry season in Mesoamerica.
The following decision support products on wildfires are already available:Mesoamerican MODIS Rapid Response: Obtain twice daily MODIS images with active fire pixels overlaid. Images can be viewed in 1000m, 500m, or 250m and with or without a graticule. Images can also be downloaded with a corresponding "World File" for immediate use in a GIS.
Mesoamerican Web Fire Mapper: View and build customized maps of active fires in Mesoamerica. Fires can be viewed by ranges of dates specified and overlaid with other relevant information such as protected area boundaries, roads, water bodies, etc.Programme for the Detection of High-Temperature Events (HTE) - CONABIO
Since 1999 the Mexico National Commission for the Knowledge and Use of Biodiversity (CONABIO) offers a daily updated website for the detection of wildland fires and land-use fires by detecting high-temperature events using remote sensing techniques (Programa para detección de puntos de calor mediante técnicas de percepción remota).
CONABIO offers daily interactive fire mapfs for Mexico and Central America:

Wildland Fire Information System - SEMARNAT
Since 1998 the National Meteorological Service (SMN) is carrying out the detection and monitoring of wildland fires in Mexico, based on GOES-12 satellites. In this section animated images are displayed showing thematic information and active fires detected during the day: http://smn.cna.gob.mx/monitoreo/incendios/incendios.html
The Mexico Wildland Fire Information System (Programa de Sistemas de Manejo de Incendios is a comprehensive fire information system which has been set up at SEMARNAT in collaboration with Natural Resources Canada, Canadian Forest Service. The Canadian Forest Fire Weather Index (FWI) System and the Canadian Forest Fire Behavior Prediction (FBP) System are applied in México and updated daily.
