Several documents containing views and recommendations on wildland fire have been submitted by international and regional bodies to the WSSD:

1. UN International Strategy For Disaster Reduction (ISDR), Inter-Agency Task Force For Disaster Reduction, Working Group on Wildland Fire (WG-4): Position Paper for the World Summit For Sustainable Development (WSSD) “Wildland Fire And Sustainable Development” (March 2002)

2. UN International Strategy For Disaster Reduction (ISDR), Inter-Agency Task Force For Disaster Reduction, Working Group on Wildland Fire (WG-4): Input Paper “Wildland Fire, Early Warning and Sustainable Development” (March 2002)

3. UN International Strategy For Disaster Reduction (ISDR): Background document for the WSSD “Disaster Reduction and Sustainable Development:  understanding the links between vulnerability and risk related to development and environment”. Remarks: Inputs of the UN Working Group on Wildland Fire are included on p.2; wildland fire problems are highlighted in paragraphs 3 (p.3), 15 (p.8), 33 (p.14) and on p.15.

4.Statement to the World Summit on Sustainable Development: Recommendations of the World Conference on Land and Forest Fire Hazards (June 2002)

5. Partnership/Initiative to strengthen the implementation of Agenda 21 (in preparation for the World Summit on Sustainable Development for launching at the Summit): “Integrated Approach to Prevention, Preparedness for and Response to Environmental Emergencies in support of Sustainable Development”
