Canada - Firefighters have doused a small grass fire in the brush on McArthur
Island Park in Kamloops this afternoon.
Crews were called to the wildfire in the park near the McArthur Island Golf Course at about 1:17 p.m., June 23. Smoke from the fire could be seen for kilometres.
Capt. Mike Wallace with Kamloops Fire Rescue says the fire was about 25 feet by 10 feet when crews arrived. The flames were extinguished quickly.
"It's still pretty green which is nice," Wallace says.
A hiker saw the smoke from the fire and called 911.
No word yet on what sparked the fire.
This is the second urban wildfire in two days in the city. Firefighters put out a small brush fire in Peterson Creek Park yesterday, June 22.
